Procrastination is my bad habit.

Procrastination is a bad habit that is hard to break once you start, although by doing it, it doesn't mean you'll do a bad job on the tasks to be completed. By picking up this habit it can be stressful because in the back of your mind you know you need to finish whatever it is you have to do and yet you still continue to wait to the last minute no matter how important the task is. This used to be a major problem for me in elementary school I would get the work and either do a bad job on it or sometimes wait so long I wouldn't have time to finish it at all. Also by procrastinating your not really learning anything because you fail to absorb the information by waiting last minute and just writing something down. Luckily back then I didn't have chores or that would just be another thing I would procrastinate to do.
The difference between then and now with procrastination is the that it means more to do a good job in high school then in grades below because starting now is when your grades become a factor of the college oppurtunites you will have. I could procrastinate now and still do a good job but its easier to just get work out of the way and not have to worry about it.
Everyone has some sort of bad habit and if you just notice the problem is there and go out of your way to fix it, it will benefit you. Comment back with your bad habit.

Rwanda Genocide 1994

As Juvenal Habyarimana the blame for this war rested mainly on Paul Kagame and Uganda. Paul Kagame is the one who ordered our plane to be shot, and when we died the war became a true genocide. Then Uganda claimed that they were only harboring Tutsi terrorist because they were giving them the chance to defend thereselves by training an army. They also claimed that the Tutsi were fighting for peace, which is a lie the Tutsi want be in power and wipe the Hutu out. Another speculation is that the Tutsi lied to Uganda about there intentions and if that is the case then Uganda still should have kept an eye on what they were doing. Juvenal Habyarimana was the greatest president and could've brought Rwanda out of this slump if only he was still alive

This experience overall was really fun and I surprisingly learned a lot about everyone’s role in this issue. I hope we do something like this again when learning about a different situation. Role playing is probably the most fun way to learn in my opinion.

The American Scholar

Emersons's argument in "The American Scholar" about American society still holds true today.

One reason Emerson's argument still hold true today is that the people who do the jobs they do only know how to do that kind of job. For example in Detroit,MI when the auto industries shut down the people who worked there did very specific jobs so it became harder for them to find work. In the article it also talks about jobs, "The tradesman scarcely ever gives an ideal woth to his work, but is ridden by the routine of his craft, and the soul is subject to dollars." (Emerson 1) This just further proves the point of how far off people are from the Man Thinking.

Before you get to a job you have to go to school, there's an upside and downside to the schools in the U.S.A. Though in most schools there are a lot of different classes people fail to try new classes they wouldn't normally take. Yet those classes could end up leading you to something you really like or just another way to gain a new skill. "Is not indeed every man a student, and do not all things exist for the student's behoof." (Emerson 1)

The Nightmare Before Christmas

My absolute favorite Halloween/Christmas movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s not a scary movie but it’s still just as great. I would highly recommend this movie if you haven’t seen it because the story line is well put together. Summary: The main character Jack Skellington also known as the King of the Pumpkin Patch is the main component of Halloween Towns Halloween celebration, but this year he grows old of doing the same old thing. He goes out on a long walk and discovers a circle of trees with different doors all with symbols of the other holidays curiously he opens the one with the bright shiny Christmas tree and accidently falls in. When he does he discovers this wondrous place that is so different with snow, snowballs, lights, trees, presents, and most important of all Santa Clause. When he travels back to Halloween Town he shares his discovery with the town and decides to take over this holiday, but by doing that things don’t turn out so well.
Now that you have the gist of it I’ll go in to my favorite character other then Jack of course. Sally is my favorite character in this movie because she is very clever, crafty, and understanding. Throughout the whole movie she knows that taking over Christmas is a bad idea and also she has quiet a crafty way of escaping her creator. She’s very understanding of how Jack feels during the movie and has a secret crush on him, if only he would take the time to notice.
This movie has become very popular; there are The Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise at stores such as Claire’s and Hot Topic. Also there are The Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween costumes for characters such as Jack, Sally, The Trick or Treaters, etc. The only merchandise I own is a jacket with Jack Skellington’s face on the front and The Nightmare Before Christmas on the back and a Jack Skellington stuffed animal.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is Tim Burton’s best work out of all of his other films in my opinion.

Choir Concert

The Choir Concert was on Oct.14th and it was a success, the seats were filled and everyone sounded great! The theme of the concert was Broadway musicals that have won an award. The musicals sung were Hairspray, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, Les Miserables, and a few songs picked out from other musicals. I am in Girls Select Choir and we sang the My Fair Lady Medley, Hairspray(with all the other choirs), and The Glory(with all the other choirs.) I tried out for solo's for My Fair Lady and The Glory but didn't get one unfortunately. Our attire was the concert t-shirt we ordered and black pants and shoes. I like the choir I'm in now, but I hate how my two best friends are in the choir below me (they sang Fiddler on the Roof) so I can't be in a class with them. Even though I was a middle schooler last year, the people in the Holmes Middle School Choir now sound so undeveloped with their voices compared to the High School Choirs. The Symphonic Choir sounded so amazing as always when singing Les Miserables, I've never seen the movie before but I knew a couple of the songs and the songs I didn’t know were still really good!

At the concert was my Mom, Dad, Grandpa, and his girlfriend Gwen. I wanted my brother to come, and he said he would but then he forgot that he had plans. I was kind of disappointed but I'm sure he'll be there next time. After the concert was over I met up with them and they told me how proud they were of me, It made me feel so great that they had a good time! When leaving, the songs of the concert flowed through my mind. It was a success!

Mumbai Trial

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/13/world/asia/13lahore.html?_r=2&scp=1&sq=Mumbai%20Trial&st=cseTerror suspect Mr.Saeed cleared again in Pakistan for involvement with Mumbai attacks. Its been almost a year since India's 9/11 terrorist attack happened, and action needs to be taken. The court say there’s not enough evidence of Mr.Saeed being involved so they dropped the charges, and yet I don’t understand how that’s possible because it says Mr.Saeed was the founder of a banned militant group in which 10 of whose members killed 163 people in the rampage in Mumbai in November. The court should keep an eye on Mr.Saeed until they find more evidence because he shouldn’t be let of the hook just yet. In the meantime India needs better security to prevent another disaster from happening.

This issue is so important to me because the 2 Americans that died in Mumbai, India at the Oberoi Hotel were my Uncle Alan and cousin Naomi, they were there on a retreat for Synchronicity. This was truly a tragedy for my family and other family’s in India whose family died. I never knew how people felt when things liked this happened until now, and I can’t stand to imagine someone else having to go through this.I only wish that India would’ve had better security and even though people would still die maybe my Uncle and cousin could’ve been saved.

I’m not sure where the Mumbai trial is going from here but whoever was involved better get put to justice and spend a lifetime in jail!

Autumn

Imagine your taking a walk on a windy Autumn day; before you leave you grab a jacket and put your shoes and socks on. As you step outside you notice that nice aroma you can only smell during this time of the year, its truly amazing to see the seasons change and this season is one of the most beautiful to witness. Every step you take you hear the crunch of your feet hitting the leaves on the ground and the leaves on the trees are all these different colors; red, orange, yellow, and brown. You may also see pumpkins being sold for October with all different sizes ranging from big, small, fat, and skinny. You take a look through them until you find the perfect one for you, and when you do you decide to buy it. As your walk continues there are people all around raking leaves and jumping into the piles, others enjoying a nice walk like you, and probably some staying inside warming up. Before you leave to go back to your house you take a last look at what Autumn is all about.

The biggest holiday that takes place in Autumn is Halloween. Halloween is simply just a fun time to dress up and get candy. Also to have a party! Its always cool to see how creative people get with there costumes, there's always a humongous variety of different costumes. My favorite kind of candy to get on Halloween is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Twix! I always trade with my friends to get some there's. Halloween is simply fun!

Everything's Changing Now

I arrived to Mackenzie’s house where I awaited Eileen and Tommy’s arrival, we were walking to school together. “I can’t believe we’re going to high school, I’m so nervous,” I exclaimed! “I know, me too,” replied Mackenzie. I thought about the times when I was just a child in elementary school, when things were so simple. As simple as getting mad about someone cutting in front of you or stealing your seat. Middle School was when it really changed, but high school is a whole different ball game. I had been to Stevenson for the plays and concerts my brother was in and when I just passed by the building. Now my brothers graduated and I’m the high school student walking down the hall.

As we arrived to Stevenson we all anxiously walked through the entrance and parted to our lockers. The bells kind of confused me though because I didn’t really know about the warning bells at first, so it startled me and I was freaking out that I was late until I finally got it down pat. Unfortunately I didn’t have any friends in my 1st hour and I‘m not really one to approach new people. Although math isn’t really my thing, my math teacher was very friendly and kind so I knew right then that math would be made a little easier.

I sat down in my newly assigned seat in the 2nd row last seat when all the sudden something was bothering me. My back started to hurt, I tried shifting in chair a few times but it wasn’t working. The structure of the chair must have triggered my back problems. The pain felt like a ton of bricks on my back that couldn’t be lifted. The bell rings and the class ends, I don’t know how the rest of the day will turn out but I already assumed it will be pretty boring considering all you do is go over rules and guidelines.

As the end of the day rolls around I am so overwhelmed by the amount and type of work I will be doing this year. Though my work habits could use some improvement, my goal is to get straight A’s. Everything is changing now and its up to me whether high school will be a good or bad experience.

Alphabet

A-Acting is something I really enjoy doing for fun. I love being someone other than myself and interacting with the rest of the cast.
B-Bread is soooo delicious! There are so many different kinds that I like and so many ways to use bread.
C-Cooking is my passion; I would like to do it as a profession when I’m older. I love the smell, taste, and appearance it’s all part the cooking/eating experience. Cats are my favorite animal, I have 3 of them; Oswald, Freya, and Willow.
D-Delisle is my last name. It’s French, but I’m technically French Canadian.
E-Eggs, my favorite way to eat them is to make a fried egg sandwich. Yum!
F Food keeps me alive and I also enjoy it a little too much…
G-Gum makes my breath smell nice but I hate when the flavor is gone, then it tastes gross.
H- Hot Topic is one of my fave stores; they have so many awesome band tees, skinny jeans, and accessories.
I-Insects gross me out, especially spiders! If I see one I will kill it before it gets to me first.
J-Jam or Jelly I usually only eat it on one thing, biscuits, I just don’t really like it on other stuff.
K-Kohl’s is the store I shop at the most; it’s inexpensive and has cute clothes. I’m actually wearing an outfit from Kohl’s today!
L-Lip piercing, I don’t have any but I really want one cause they look cool. I probably won’t be able to get one until I’m 18.
M-Money, I know it’s not supposed to equal happiness but I definitely enjoy spending it when I can. But there are other things that I enjoy though!
N-Napoleon Dynamite is the greatest stupid but funny movie of all time, I've seen it numerous times!
O-Oswald is my cat, he is 2 years old and is very sweet and loving. He also has a sister that lives here too.
P-Purses, I like carrying purses around so I always have the things I need. I especially like buying new ones to use.
Q-Quitter, something I'm not, I go through rough patches and work my way back up.
R-Roller Coasters, my favorite roller coaster is the Millennium Force at Cedar Point.
S-Sailor Moon, the only anime I like, I watched it when I was in elementary school but I just recently began watching it again.
T-Tutu's are really cute, I wouldn’t where them at school but I probably would at the movies or mall.
U-Ukulele is played by one of my favorite music artists Nevershoutnever.
V-Volleyball is a fun sport, I don’t play on a team but I still enjoy it.
W-Writing, my favorite kind of writing is creative writing.
X-X-Rays, are interesting because you get to see your bones.
Y-YouTube is pretty much the only site I use to watch videos.
Z-Z, a letter that doesn’t have a word for something that’s about me.

Freshman in High School

High School isn't as bad as I though it would be, I mean I know my parents and brother told me I would be fine but of course there not gonna say "High School sucks your probably gonna hate it!" I don't really have any of my good friends in my classes except Mackenzie and Eileen in my 7th hour Personal Fitness. I love all the Activities going on here, there's always something to do! Yesterday I auditioned for the Fall Play, the callback list was posted today and I wasn't on it... I'm kind of dissapointed but it was only my first try so I'll just try out for the next play. I think I'm gonna join the Students Environmentally Active club next Wednesday, but I will have to figure out a plan to join because I have 7th hour which makes things difficult. Getting to school and leaving school is very convienent because I live close enough to walk which makes it easier if I stay late.
My 1st hour teacher is really nice, though math isn't my thing so the class is pretty boring. My favorite thing about her is that she gets volunteers to answer questions instead of just calling on people randomly. My 2nd hour teacher is very creative, science is also not my best subject but she makes it more interesting by the labs we do and the videos we watch. My 3rd hour teacher is very enthusiastic in Global Ed. World History, she has very high expectations and urges us to get more involved in current events. My 4th hour (in this class right now)teacher has sky high expectations and is very helpful because he prints our refrences and examples. My 5th hour teacher I have known since 7th grade because he teaches Choir for middle school as well as highschool. He picks out really good songs and is pretty easy going as long as you do what your supposed to be doing. My 6th hour teacher is enthusiastic about Cooking as am I and talks a lot about germs and how important it is to do a good job cleaning up and to not cross-contaminate. My 7th hour teacher is strict but is nice because she expects us to do well and put in some effort.
School won't be easy but I will truly try my best to get good grades and get involved in school activities.
